When I sync my i Pod (I have it set to sync automatically), the songs I have listened to recently do not show up in i Tunes (the play count does not change and the "date last played" does not change).
The playlist used to work, then I tried to set up several programs to help me scrobble tracks from my ipod (i Simon and qtscrobbler, both of which I have uninstalled since then).
This requires me to have a "Recently Played" playlist on my i Pod, which, of course, comes with i Tunes.
However, the Recently Played playlist has stopped updating.
As long as you're not editing the tags in your library between syncs, the songs should update each time you auto-sync.
Check to make sure you're not on manual sync, in case it got changed by accident.
According to our information, the notifications on i OS are quiet.
Edit: I have since upgraded to i Tunes 10.6.1.7 and I am still seeing this issue, so I am now offering a bounty to anyone who can help me solve this.As I said, the i Pod/i Tunes forgets that I ever played it (i.e.the Last Played date may be some date in 2010 despite the fact that I played it yesterday). So, I realized that the Recently Played playlist is updating, but only on my i Pod. No matter how many songs I play, my "Recently Played" playlist remains blank. I have an i Pod Classic 160GB that I am trying to get to work with Is the answer to your Ruzzle question not included below?
